Media Access to the UO Campus during the World Athletics Championships Oregon22

Frequently Asked Questions

Please note that the following guidelines are temporary and only apply to the period around the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 (July 11-25). The UO’s standard photography and filming requirements will resume when the event has concluded.

What is the policy for filming outdoors at the UO?

Photography, filming, and other recordings are permitted in outdoor areas at the UO, subject to the following limitations. Activities may not:

  • impede pedestrian or vehicle traffic;
  • negatively impact or burden the UO’s regular operations; 
  • create safety hazards;
  • attract bystander attention that results in any of the conditions listed above.

Are credentials required for photography or filming in outdoor areas?

Credentials are not required for photography or filming in outdoor areas on the UO campus for non-athletics events.

Are there UO campus areas that are off-limits to media?

Due to the number of visitors to the UO’s campus during the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, all indoor areas outside the event’s secure perimeter are off limits to media equipment. This includes the Athletes’ Village area in UO residence halls.

Members of the media may enter any of the UO’s facilities that are open to the public. However, the use of photography, filming, and other equipment indoors is prohibited due to its impact on the efficient and safe operation of these facilities.

Can I get a complimentary media parking pass?

Media parking and alternative transportation options to campus may be available through World Athletics Championships Oregon22.

The UO is not able to issue free parking passes to media for reserved spaces on campus. Almost all campus parking requires some type of payment or permit. Parking on campus through the UO will be significantly limited during the event. Information on hourly campus parking can be found through UO Transportation Services.

Can I park a satellite truck for live broadcasting?

Is there Wi-Fi access on campus?

The University of Oregon has an extensive wireless network that provides service throughout the campus and at a number of off-campus locations. Guests visiting the University of Oregon can register for an account and gain access to the UO Guest wireless network for seven days. Visit Wireless Network Guest Access for additional information or if you experience any issues connecting to our network. 

Does UO’s Wi-Fi access cover athletic venues?

Guests with self-registered accounts will not be able to access wireless at athletic venues, including Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Only authorized users may access the UO’s wireless network inside athletic venues, which will require a PIN from an authorized events staff member.

Broadcast audio and video resources for the events at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon are coordinated by World Athletics Championships Oregon22. The University of Oregon is not equipped with broadcast audio and video capabilities.
