The University of Oregon community welcomed nearly 150,000 ticketed fans as well as thousands of spectators, athletes, members of the media, volunteers, and staff to campus during the World Athletics Championships Oregon22. Thank you to all of the UO employees and students who helped make this event a huge success.
We're heading into the final weekend of the World Athletics Championships Oregon22. This event has brought opportunities to see incredible athletes compete, showcase UO faculty and student research, and discuss national and global challenges.
University of Oregon leaders and faculty members joined Gov. Kate Brown, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and track athlete Noah Lyles on Friday for a roundtable discussion on raising awareness about mental health.
World Athletics Championships Oregon22 competition starts tomorrow. Doug Emhoff, the Second Gentleman of the United States, will be attending opening ceremony events and the first in-stadium medals will be won during the opening evening session.
The excitement is building with just over a week until the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 officially kicks off. Over the weekend WCH Oregon22 banners went up across campus and in a matter of days athletes, teams, and visitors will begin to arrive.
